What we published this week
- Sweet Mac setup with David Chartier, a content stategist and writer who runs the PR department for AgileBits (makers of 1Password and Knox). He’s also behind Finer Things in Tech, and contributes to several well-known Mac-oriented websites and The Wirecutter. David shared his Mac, iPhone, and iPad setups with us, as well as a wealth of cool tips and interesting ideas.
- Quick tip: How to pair an Apple remote to a particular device. If you own multiple Apple devices that have IR inputs and live in the same room, you know what can happen when you use an Apple remote — all of the devices in the room respond. Stephen shows us how to pair a remote to a specific device to avoid this problem.

Apple released OS X 10.9.3 this week, which includes better support for 4k displays, sync improvements, and now includes all Safari updates, which were previously independent. Our friends at Macstories have all the details and the download links.
Software updates normally happen without any hiccups, but there’s always the off-chance that something could go wrong. With that warning, it’s a really good idea to do a quick backup before installing the update. We have a comprehensive guide on backups, but a Time Machine update should be enough to cover you for this update.
