The Dime Tour
Hello, and welcome to The Sweet Setup.
This site exists because we (myself and the contributing writers) enjoy spending an inordinate amount of time and energy to research, test, and find the very best apps.
Who wants just any weather app? Not us. We want the best! And so do you. Our goal is to help you (and ourselves) find the best apps for your iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
If that sounds agreeable to you, then I hope you’ll become a regular reader. You can follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our RSS feed.
Ready to dive in? Go to the home page where you’ll find the Category Grid, where all of our apps are listed. There you will also find links to guides and blog posts — articles we’ve written to help you get the most out of your devices.
Want to know more about the site? Read on…
We all use our iPhones, iPads, and Macs every day. We use them to communicate with friends and family, take pictures and videos of special events and moments, do our job, and more. We also use them to help us find a nearby coffee shop, manage our grocery list, or do our best creative work such as writing, editing photos, recording music, collaborating with others, and so much more.
There are so many fantastic apps and other tools to help us with all these tasks. And thatโs why I built this site. Because I want to use the best tools for whatever the task is and I bet you do, too.
We don’t do fly-by-night scans of the latest apps and then share the top 20 based on which ones had cool screenshots in the App Store. Nor do we recommend apps that we haven’t actually used. The apps we recommend here are the apps we use ourselves. And they’re only recommended after comparing them to the competition, using them in real life, and considering several other practical factors, such as if the price is reasonable, if the app is likely to be updated in the future, etc.
As such, app reviews and recommendations will be posted about 2-4 times per month.
But, in addition to app reviews and recommendations, there are a few other types of content on the site:
- Blog posts: every week we’ll be posting an interview with someone cool to ask about their iPhone, iPad, or Mac and what software they use to get the job done. We’ll also be posting quick tips as well as highlighting when certain apps we recommend are on sale or have significant updates.
- Articles: These are guides related to workflows, such as this guide to getting the most out of Pinboard or this one listing the few Mac apps we think all moderately computer-savvy folks should be using. We have more in the works right now, such as a best practices for backing up your Mac and one to going paperless, and will keep them coming.
- Accessories: We’re going to dip our toes in the water a little bit with recommending a few accessories that are directly related to Macs, iPhones, and iPads.
The Sweet Setup aims to be the place you go when you (or your friends) want the best app for a certain category. Thanks so much for checking us out, and I hope you’ll stick around.
